Terms and Conditions Bato Website

These terms explain the rules for using Bato, our mobile app for finding and listing Iranian and Farsi speaking businesses, and our website, which introduces Bato and helps you get started, written in plain language, available in English and Farsi.

Welcome to Bato. These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Bato mobile application and website (together, the “Service”), operated by Bato (“Bato,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).

By downloading, accessing, or using Bato, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Agreement to Terms

These Terms form a legally binding agreement between you and Bato. They apply to everyone who uses the Service, including people who browse our website, download and use the Bato app to search for businesses (“Users”), and people who list a business on the app (“Business Owners”).

Please also review our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect and use information and forms part of your agreement with us.

2. Eligibility & Accounts

  • You must be at least 13 years old to use Bato. If you are under 18, you confirm you have permission from a parent or guardian.
  • You can browse our website freely without creating an account.
  • An account is required to search within the Bato app, list a business, or save preferences.
  • You are responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential and for all activity that occurs under your account.
  • You agree to provide accurate and current information when creating an account, submitting a business listing, or submitting a business through our website.

3. Using the Bato Website

The Bato website introduces Bato, shares stories and blog content about businesses in our community, and helps visitors connect with the Bato app. 

When you use the website, you agree to the following:

  • The website does not provide business search, listings, or directory functionality. To search for or list a business, you will need to download the Bato app.
  • If you submit a business through our website for consideration as a featured story or future app listing, that information is reviewed by our team and is not published automatically.
  • We may update, change, or discontinue features of the website at any time, with or without notice, to improve or maintain Bato.

4. Using the Bato App

Bato is a local business directory app that helps people find and connect with Iranian and Farsi speaking businesses. 

When you use the app, you agree to the following:

  • Bato grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the app for personal, non commercial purposes (or to promote your own business, if you are a Business Owner).
  • If you grant location permission, Bato uses it to show you nearby businesses and calculate directions, as described in our Privacy Policy.
  • We may update, change, or discontinue features of the Service at any time, with or without notice, to improve or maintain Bato.

5. Business Listings

Business Owners who create a listing on the Bato app agree to the following additional terms:

  • You confirm that you own, operate, or are authorized to represent the business you are listing.
  • All listing information (name, address, phone number, category, description, etc.) must be accurate and kept up to date.
  • Free listings are subject to Bato’s renewal policy, currently every 60 days, as described on the For Business Owners page. Listings not renewed may be removed or marked inactive.
  • Bato reserves the right to review, edit, decline, or remove any listing that violates these Terms, contains false information, or is not relevant to the Iranian or Farsi speaking community.
  • Bato is a directory platform, not a party to any transaction between Users and businesses. We do not guarantee the quality, safety, or legality of any listed business.

6. Acceptable Use

To keep Bato safe and useful for the whole community, you agree not to:

  • Submit false, misleading, or fraudulent business listings, reviews, or website submissions.
  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose, or in a way that infringes the rights of others.
  • Attempt to scrape, copy, or extract data from Bato for use in a competing directory or product.
  • Interfere with, disrupt, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to Bato’s systems, servers, or other users’ accounts.
  • Impersonate any person or business, or misrepresent your affiliation with a business you list.
  • Upload content that is hateful, discriminatory, obscene, or harassing toward any person or community.

Violation of these rules may result in content removal, listing suspension, or termination of your account, at Bato’s discretion.

7. Content & Intellectual Property

The Bato name, logo, app design, website design, and underlying software are the property of Bato and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or distribute any part of the Service without our written permission.

When you submit content to Bato, such as a business listing, description, website submission, or message, you grant Bato a non exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to display, distribute, and use that content as part of operating the Service.

You confirm that you have the right to submit any content you provide, and that it does not infringe on anyone else’s intellectual property or other rights.

8. Third-Party Businesses

Bato’s app is a directory that connects Users with independent, third-party businesses. We are not responsible for the products, services, conduct, or content of any business listed on Bato.

Any transaction, agreement, dispute, or interaction between a User and a business listed on Bato is solely between those parties. We encourage Users to use good judgment and verify business details independently before making purchases or appointments.

9. Disclaimers

The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

We do not guarantee that business listings are always accurate, complete, or up to date, as this information is submitted by individual Business Owners.

We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Bato and its team will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, or goodwill, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Our total liability for any claim arising from your use of the Service will not exceed the amount you paid us, if any, in the 12 months before the claim arose.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain liability limitations, so some of the above limitations may not apply to you.

11. Termination

You may stop using Bato or delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service, with or without notice, if we believe you have violated these Terms or for any other reason at our discretion.

Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (such as Intellectual Property, Disclaimers, and Limitation of Liability) will continue to apply after your account is closed.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Bato is registered, without regard to conflict of law principles. Since Bato serves users in both the United States and Canada, certain local consumer protection laws may also apply depending on where you live.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in our Service, business practices, or legal requirements. If we make material changes, we will notify users through the app or website before the changes take effect.

Continuing to use Bato after changes take effect means you accept the revised Terms. The “Last Updated” date at the top of this page indicates when these Terms were last revised.
